"Fire"Works

Last Saturday, Matt, Emma, Luke, Mom, Rob, Kirby, Elle and I went to SciWorks. For whatever reason, Emma kept calling it "Fire"Works! Emma and Elle had a lot of fun exploring all the different things there was to see and do there. I think, by far, Emma's favorite part was at the end in the little kids only section. It included a grocery cart just like the one she has at home (her's is pink, of course though!) and a lot of food. She was having a great time filling it up with all the food and pushing it around. There were also gymnastic mats that they both had fun climbing over and rolling on top of. I think the adults had as much fun as the little people too!

Fall Fest

Last Thursday we ventured out to Bethabara Park for a Fall Festival. There was supposed to be 25 cent hot dogs and ice cream, spooky music, hay rides and a great time for kids. We were all hungry and ready for some hot dogs and ice cream when we got there. There didn't seem to be a real sense of who was "in charge" of things and not a lot of direction for what to do. We managed to find the ice cream and I asked about the hot dogs and was told there were none. The vendor had a death in the family, so they weren't coming. Uh oh-we had two hungry toddlers and five hungry adults. The ice cream wasn't cutting it. There was a band playing music behind the ice cream and they were playing Journey and God Bless America. Where's the spooky music?! We thought we would see about the hay rides. Turns out there was one tractor and about 50 people waiting to ride. Some how we managed to get in line and waited and waited and waited. While we were waiting there was a ghost story-we crammed into the tiny room and it was HOT! Matt couldn't handle the heat and immediately left-Emma and Elle lasted about 5 minutes and they were ready to leave. So much for that! We got in line for the hay ride around 6:45 and by 8, we still hadn't gotten a ride yet. The girls were having fun running around chasing each other and finally we were probably two rides away from our turn. Then it started raining!! We all knew, right away, we were done. We took of running to the car and managed to get pretty soaked. Dinner ended up being McDonald's and we knew that would be the last Fall Fest at Bethabara!

Emma Talk

It's time for one of my favorite posts! The silly things that Ms Emma has been saying around here....

We were leaving the mall and I was pushing Luke in the stroller and she was walking beside me and she said "Mommy I hold you" (that's what she's always said when she wants to be held) I picked her up and she sighed and  said "Cuz I've had a hard day!" I literally had to stop walking because I was laughing so hard

I put my hair up in a clip to get it out of the way while I was giving her a bath and later she noticed it and said "Mommy, I no like your hair, go to the bathroom and fix it"

Luke said Mama on Monday and when I told her she said, "I can say Mama-Mama!!" And then she tried to get him to say Dada

Every time someone mentions the mall now, Emma immediately starts saying she wants a rainbow cookie and to ride the horsies

The first time Emma went to Lunch Bunch she didn't eat anything but goldfish. I told her she couldn't Lunch Bunch again if she didn't eat all of her sandwich. She said "O.K. Mommy, I'll do my best!" I found out a week or so later that she was sitting at the table eating and told Elle that she had to try and eat most of her sandwich.

We've already started talking about Christmas and now when she sees a toy she wants, she says "I want this for Christmas! Have to tell Santa"

FAIRy Tales!

This one may be a little long-lots of the pictures at the bottom to make up for it!! :o) We have started a family tradition, when Emma was born, for the fair. In that Matt, Katelyn, Roger, Emma, now Luke, and I all go one night. The tradition lives on again! The first Saturday of the Fair, we headed out with Blair around 3 and we were all hungry! I grabbed a polish sausage and Emma started fussing for some ice cream. We went on a mission to find some ice cream, and I thought she might enjoy the home spun ice cream by the John Deere machine. She had two bites and was done-she didn't like the kettle corn popcorn or cotton candy I picked up either. Ohh well-off to find something else she may enjoy. We walked around for a little bit and then came upon the kiddie rides. We were all anxious and excited to see how she would do on the rides. The first one she went on was a lady bug that went around in a circle and slowly goes up and down. We were all cheering for her as she went around and she was loving it--until it went up in the air. She started getting uneasy and making faces and by the time it went back down, she was screaming in tears. Matt had to go rescue her before the ride ended and we were afraid she wouldn't ride anything else. We found a slooow moving train and I ended up riding it with her and she loved it!! She wanted to ride it again and again-no thank you! Katelyn rode a fast moving carousel with her and she was having a great time on there too! She soon started getting cranky and tired and did not want anything to do with any other rides; no matter how hard we tired. We started talking about the goats that you can feed carrots and she got so excited!! She wanted to go feed those animals-and she had so much fun watching them and talking to them. I ended up feeding them most of the carrots, but she still had a blast. After the animals, we ventured into the annex to get some ice cold milk and walk around a little bit. By this point, Emma had eaten almost nothing and all of a sudden started asking for a donut. We couldn't find any donuts, but we did find some M&M fudge that she loooved!! By the time we made our way out of the Annex it was getting really cold and we decided we needed to call it a night. Not before Katelyn grabbed a chocolate/vanilla swirl cone, though. Emma saw that ice cream cone and her eyes doubled in size! She took to that cone like it was the only thing she had eaten in weeks. Guess she likes the cone better than the cup :o)
That Tuesday, Cindy and Taylor wanted to take Emma and Marley to the fair and Emma was more excited about seeing them than going to the fair. She couldn't wait for them to arrive and soon off they were! Emma had about the same experience with food this time too. Not too interested in eating much of anything, but she was looking forward to seeing those goats again! They all seemed to have a really great time and plan on doing it again next year.
On the last day of the Fair, we went with Nana, Pop Pop, Elle, Brodie, Katherine, and Daniel. After all going to church, we headed to our house to change and the girls were more than ready to get to the Fair. They both managed to eat chicken nuggets and chips and Emma could not stop talking about riding the pink dragon that she was too afraid of last time. We were hoping having Elle with her would make her more interested in rides. Our first stop was a different train ride. We were waiting in line and were told we could get on the next ride. When it stopped and everyone got off, the worker said he would be right back. We waited and waited and waited and finally learned that he left to quit! So much for that ride-Matt and Emma did end up riding it later. After what seemed like FOREVER (and only ice cream and a 5 dollar useless toy for Emma) we headed to another part of the fair to find Emma's pink dragon. We finally arrive and Elle does NOT want to ride pink, she wants blue. I knew there was NO WAY that Emma would get out of that pink dragon, so we said she could ride that one next-Elle was less than thrilled with that idea. Emma was loving the dragon and having a great time until Elle burst into tears because she wanted the blue dragon. That started the water works for Emma and they spent the rest of the ride crying...geeeze!! Elle rode the blue dragon and Emma stood in line for a caterpillar ride with Katherine, but didn't end up riding it. We were walking around a little more and somehow we ended up back at the first train that I had to ride with Emma last week. She was happy to ride on that and when we got off, there were the ladybugs that Emma hated before, and she really wanted to ride them. So we gave it another shot. Good thing we did-because she LOVED it!! So much that she rode it again! And then after that it clicked that "Hey, riding rides is FUN!" She rode everything in sight until we ran out of tickets. The last one that she rode was with Katherine and Elle. She spotted these large dragons that spun around in circles and they were all ready to ride. There were three dragons to choose from and somehow Katherine put them in the dragon that had six little boys. Not the one with the nice family of four, but six wild 5/6 year olds! The ride hadn't even started yet and their dragon was flying in circles-round and round! Elle was happy to get off, but Emma was ready for more. We left around 6, and everyone seemed ready for a nap or bed! Next year we are going to have to double or triple the amount of ride tickets we got this year for sure!

Fall is coming!

I can't believe its been a week since I've blogged-things have just stayed busy around here! Hopefully I won't forget everything. Friday evening we headed up to King to visit with Katelyn who just moved home (YAE!!) and of course had to pick up something from the Dairio! Emma was so excited to see Kiki, Nana and Papa-she immediately asked where the little table was for her tea party. Kate and Nana sat with her for almost an hour while Emma ate, played, ate and played some more. We were all just talking and hanging out and before we knew it-it was 11:00! Time to get these tired babies to bed-we had the Fair the next day!! Emma woke up Saturday morning ready for the Fair. I had to keep delaying her because it was going to be awhile before the Fair-brother was asleep, then he woke up and "time to go"; Daddy was running, came home and "time to go", brother asleep again and woke up and "time to go"; Kiki, Papa and Blair had to come they got here and FINALLY "time to go!!" More on the fair later though. Sunday we were going to try to head to church in King, but we had to be back at 1:00 for the Redskins game, so we just stayed home. Mom, Rob and Kirby came over a little after 1:00 and we had a ton of food-buffalo chicken dip with chips, crackers and celery, pimento cheese wheels, potatoes, cheetos and mini cupcakes. We were stuffed by the end of the game (Redskins won!). This week has been filled with crafts, school and Lunch Bunch, yummy home cooked dinners and not enough sleep!! Yesterday, Mom and I attempted to take the kids to the Pumpkin Patch so she could have pictures for her frame. Emma did not want to cooperate very much, but we got some GREAT model shots of Elle!! Matt and I are going to try and go back again tomorrow and let Emma pick out some pumpkins to paint and maybe get a few more shots. Last night, Kate, Nana and Papa came over for some red beans and rice and we had cornbread and a very good chocolate cake with Snickers on top. Tonite, the kiddos are going to play at Nonnie and Poppie's, while Matt and I have dinner and go to a Haunted Trail with his boss and a few others. We are going to the Fair again Sunday, so stay tuned to hear all about Emma's adventures at the Fair-inlcuding her going with Mimi, Tay Tay and Marley!
